"True art lies in the reality that is felt" - Odilon Redon (1840-1916)
The arts have always been a passion of mine, from taking ballet lessons as a young child to regularly attending the Oklahoma City Philharmonic concerts as an adult. One time I was asked to list my interests, and I was given about half a line in which to do it. In trying to be comprehensive and succinct, I summed it up with "The arts and nature." I find that photography is a creative blend of both of those. I am drawn to photographing nature, and what I see around me. I like to photograph people and objects in their natural state, particularly candid photographs, and capture their feelings and expressions of the moment. I think taking pictures of animals and other aspects of nature is very similar, capturing them in a unique moment of time. I also enjoying taking pictures of people being engaged in what they like to do and being emotionally connected in their experiences. When I can do this, and have the result being something interesting or beautiful to see, then I, too, feel a creative connection, enrichment, and satisfaction.
